An exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Project Manager to join a global automotive technology business supporting advanced product development programs for the Japanese market.
This role focuses on leading technically complex automotive development projects, working closely with Japanese OEM customers and global engineering teams to deliver innovative vehicle technologies.
The position combines technical project leadership, customer-facing coordination, and full product lifecycle ownership, making it ideal for professionals with experience in advanced automotive electronics, complex vehicle systems, or technically demanding product development environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead global cross-functional engineering teams across automotive development programs
- Drive technical project execution from concept through start of production
- Manage project timing, milestones, technical deliverables, and risk
- Ensure alignment with internal development processes and project governance frameworks
Customer Interface
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for Japanese OEM customers
- Coordinate communication between customer teams and internal global engineering functions
- Support technical discussions, issue resolution, and expectation management throughout development
Product Development Oversight
- Monitor technical progress and ensure product maturity meets customer requirements
- Support validation planning, launch readiness, and key development milestones
- Drive achievement of quality, timing, and cost objectives
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure development activities align with automotive industry standards and customer expectations
- Support delivery of technically robust, production-ready products
Business Support
- Participate in technical discussions related to future business opportunities
- Support customer-facing technical activities during early-stage project discussions when required
Requirements
Essential
- Experience managing technical automotive development projects
- Experience working directly with Japanese OEM customers
- Product development experience from concept through SOP
- Business-level English communication skills
- Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to coordinate effectively across global engineering teams
Preferred
- Experience with complex automotive electronic systems or advanced vehicle technologies
- Familiarity with automotive development frameworks such as ASPICE, functional safety, or structured product development methodologies
- Experience managing technically complex customer-facing development programs
