2006 – Graduated from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Japanese (language) and moved to Japan the same year.


2008 – Joined an automotive-focused recruitment team at a search firm in Minato-ku, Tokyo, beginning his career as an executive recruiter in the automotive industry.

Since then, he has specialized in supporting the hiring of mid-career to executive-level professionals with engineering backgrounds across Japan’s automotive sector.

2020 – Founded Kainoa Consulting to deliver a more focused, relationship-driven approach to executive search within Japan’s mobility industry.
