Mechanical Design Engineer – Automotive Electronics

Location: Tokyo, Japan
Salary: 7–12 million JPY

Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with customer engineering teams

Project Support & Coordination

  • Work closely with project managers to support quality, cost, and timing objectives
  • Provide technical input during quotation, feasibility, and acquisition phases
  • Monitor development progress and coordinate with global engineering teams
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with quality, production, and laboratory teams

Mechanical Engineering & Product Development

  • Review and evaluate design proposals developed by global engineering teams
  • Provide feedback on CAD models, design concepts, and engineering solutions
  • Support validation activities including mechanical, thermal, vibration, and EMC testing
  • Contribute to FMEA activities, tolerance analysis, and risk assessments
  • Assist in technical problem-solving and development of alternative design solutions

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance and support to local engineering team members
  • Support achievement of project milestones and technical deliverables
  • Help improve communication and collaboration between Japan and global engineering teams
  • Represent the Japan engineering organization in technical discussions with regional and global stakeholders

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in automotive, electronics, or related industries
  • Experience working with product development, mechanical design, or systems engineering activities
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Business-level Japanese and English
  • Basic understanding of electronics and automotive systems
  • Ability to work effectively with both customers and global engineering teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience with automotive electronics products
  • Knowledge of project management and quality management processes
  • Experience supporting customer-facing engineering activities
  • Familiarity with validation testing, FMEA, or risk assessment methodologies
  • Experience working within global or multinational engineering organizations
