System Engineer – Automotive Interior Electronics

Location: Tokyo, Japan
Salary: 11–14 million JPY (depending on experience)

Overview

This role focuses on leading system architecture and requirements definition for advanced automotive connectivity solutions.

You will work closely with both OEM customers and global engineering teams to translate complex requirements into scalable system designs, supporting next-generation telematics and connected vehicle platforms.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define and decompose system requirements based on customer needs and internal standards
  • Lead technical discussions with customers and internal teams to align on requirements
  • Design system architecture and create technical documentation (state diagrams, communication flows, etc.)
  • Act as the primary technical interface for requirement discussions and change management
  • Support vehicle testing activities (internal and customer-side)
  • Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure delivery timelines and quality
  • Work closely with global engineering teams across software, hardware, and validation

Requirements

  • Experience in software development or system design for commercial products
  • Strong understanding of system architecture and requirements engineering
  • Experience working in automotive or embedded systems environments
  • Business-level Japanese (customer-facing)
  • Business-level English (global collaboration)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with telematics or connected car systems
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G, Bluetooth)
  • Experience with in-vehicle networks (CAN, Ethernet)
  • Familiarity with Automotive SPICE or similar processes
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA
